The Kitasato University Oriental Medicine Research Center, established in 1972, is a pioneering institution in the study and practice of Oriental medicine. In 1986, it became the first Japanese institution designated as a WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine. The center integrates traditional Japanese Kampo medicine and acupuncture with Western medical practices to provide comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare. Its departments include Kampo Medicine, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and a Pharmacy Department. The center emphasizes research and education to advance integrative medicine.
