The aim of the project was to arrive at a better understanding of the links between foreign aid and policy reforms in Africa. Recent cross-country evidence has shown that foreign aid has a strong, positive effect on a country's economic performance if the country has undertaken certain policy and structural reforms. But the evidence also shows that countries with good policies receive less assistance than countries with poor or mediocre policies.
