Under the Weather: Climate, Ecosystems, and Infectious Disease

Climate changes can clearly influence many infectious diseases, but it is not yet possible to determine whether global warming will cause diseases to spread. Although some studies have linked higher incidence of some illnesses with short-term climate changes, such as those caused by El Niño, many other factors must be considered to fully explain the causes of disease outbreaks.
