The type of basic cancer-oriented research is the principal mission of ISREC, which has been developed in the areas of: cell cycle control; cell differentiation into different tissues; the relationship between viruses and cancer. There are a number of research projects with more clinical aims: the design of more reliable methods to detect mutations in genes involved in cancer development; the design of viruses that target cancer cells; the testing of new approaches to immunotherapy.
